Ok, I've got 3 batches on the shelf (so to speak), and I asked my wife what kind I shold do next. Of course she asked "What about all that beer you just made??"

Ok, so I think I may be nearing the end of this run. How can I convince her that I still need to keep brewing? (Something encouraging is that she DID suggest I make a Scotch Ale, which is fine with me!)

Slowly start hiding your stash, that way you can point and say, "See, I am almost out!"

Either that, or just stop asking her, and just start brwing. That won't last long if you expect to keep her around, but you might get another few batches in:D

Did she "forbid" you to brew or something? The way you stated it made it sound like she was just curious about all the beer you already have on the shelf.

Some possible approaches:

1. But honey, I'm really enjoying this...don't you want me to be happy?
2. Sure, I could stop brewing....but I'll just end up speding more money buying beer from the store.
3. Here, drink 4 of these and THEN tell me I shouldn't keep brewing
4. I'm spending too much, really??? Let's check last months bank statement and figure out all the extra money you spent. If it's zero...then I'll stop buying brewing crap.
5. Ok, let's budget out a reasonable amount of personal spending for each of us, and then we spend it on whatever we want.
6. I wear the pants around here...get back in the kitchen! (not advised)
7. I make $392 more than you every month, so I should get to spend it on brewing equipment.
8. Drinking makes you look better to me; brewing makes more beer; erego brewing makes you more beautiful!

I would just keep going without asking any questions. And if that doesnt work here are two options I would consider:

1) Have all of us over for a party!!!
2) Next time she asks what shoes you think look best, ask "whats wrong with the ones you just bought?" This will hopefully put a stop to any adverse reactions she might have to your brewing addiction.

Other than that I can't think of anything.

That is priceless.... At least you know if the approach dosn't work, when she leaves you you can do whatever you want:D

"...honey...I think two of those last batches might have gone bad...I'm going to wait and see...but I need to get busy brewing some replacement batches right away...

Exactly...the more you drink, the more you save....its a win...win :D

And the more you save, the ore you can make!

I see a tripple win with this one:D

Me and my wife did the "Certain amount each paycheck to the personal fund". Now I have more spending money than before and she can't gripe about what I'm buying.

I just say " Should I go to the poker run/party this weekend for the __________ (insert local M/C) defense fund or brew beer.....

100% of the time it will be "Thats Ok honey brew more beer"..

just tell her those "batches" that you have sitting on the shelf expire soon and you need to brew them so that you don't LOSE the money. However, this only provides a short term fix because then you'll somehow justify buying more ingredients.

1. She knows I enjoy brewing... and she like it when I brew, but we need to do something with the bottles of beer I'm storing up!
2. This is true, but I've bought more "good" beer lately than before, (huh?)
3. She doesn't drink beer.
4. I already have personal spending money, it's not about the money.
6. I actually do most of the cooking, and sayign stuff like that would probalby more likely get me laid than anything (She likes it when I get authority)
7. She makes more than I do...
8. This one would probably either make her laugh, or make her hurt me while I'm sleeping. I think I'd rather not risk it.

Most of my problem having the bottles of beer in the way. I was going to store them in the new garage, but I went out there, and the upstairs was like 85 degrees, and it was barely 70 outside. I'm afraid that won't be good for the beer!

I might have to build a cabinet downstairs, or get an exhaust fan installed up top.

Soon ( I hope) I will be brewing outside, and there won't be ANYTHING to complain about. AG, here I come! :ban:

SWMBO: "Don't you have enough beer?"

Me: "Is this a trick question?"

SWMBO: "I wish you would do something more productive with your weekends!"

Me: "I could be on the Internet. There's a whole Internet of porn. It doesn't down-load itself!"

SWMBO: "Who's going to drink all of that beer? We don't have any friends."

Me: "Who needs friends when you have beer? Besides, what if we have an earthquake, of some natural disaster, how would we survive without beer?"

SWMBO" I think you love your beer making more than me!!!"

Me: "hmmmmmmmmmmmm" (thinking) "Is this another trick question?"

Getting some couch time???

Tell her fine beer takes a long time to age and you need to fill the pipeline so that you have beer matureing just in time as you drink it. Plus you will have hot months maybe where you won't brew. Homebrew makes great, yet inexpensive gifts, and it will make her more beautiful.

Last night I tasted my Blue Moon clone and she actually tried it. She said it wasn't too bad, but it reminded her of Budweiser. Whoa! That was not nice. At least I know she ws kidding, because she wouldn't even know what budweiser tastes like.

She's ok with my brewing, but there is a ton of stuff I could be doing, and I guess she just gets tired of me bouncing from one thing to the other. maybe I need to finish a project or two...

Reminds me to call the contractor who was supposed to get me a quote on Monday, and now it's Friday. if his price for doing the drywall is reasonable enough, I'll have more time for my other, more funner, projects.

Have you thought about kegging? I hear that kegs take up less room than bottles!

Yes, It's on my to-do list. I'm working towards AG this spring. I should be nearly finished with my grain crusher, and I'm hoping to have my MLT manifolded this weekend. I'm thinking about going straight to fly sparging, so I'm looking for another tank of some type or a second burner for the HLT.

Just another project on my list. Then I'm looking for deals on Kegs and whatnot. I don't have room in my fridge for my kegs, so I'm probably goingt o work towards a kegerator setup by end of year. I can't drink a whole keg in one sitting so it would be hard to keep it cold while it's being consumed. Those 3 Gallons are intriguing. I can fill one of those up, then a few bottles to hand out.

Start Kegging, and then use them to hold themed block parties.

You'll be the most popular family in the neighborhood, a win in the wife's book...just don't let the neighborhood kids know that you have a mountain of kegs in your garage.

Ah, but I don't want neighbors coming around my house. It's not that I'm anitsocial, I just don't get along with people.

My wife and I have come to an agreement. I can move the junk stored in the basement out to the new garage, and then I can make shelves to store my beer down in the basement. As long as I keep them off the floor, they should be ok.

Sounds like a good deal to me. I have the furnace room in our basement. very small area that is filling up QUICK. Going to be AG as soon as I find a Keg to convert. Then Maybe I'll store verything equipment oriented in the garage and just keep carboys, kegs, and bottles in the furnace room.
