How to convert kegerator into undercounter type

well, just as title say, building a bar in the basement. Buying a Danby Kegerator complete tomorrow for $150. wanting to install this under the bar. And mount the tap to the bar top. Im sure this has been done before, but im new, so any direction would be greatly appreciated. Just need to know what I will need, if I can use existing tap coming off of kegerator, or if it's even possible. Thanks in advance! Ryan

You will likely run into overheating issues with the Danby unless the cabinet is open on both sides. Refrigerators intended for undercabinet installation have vents in the front of the unit at the toe-kick. Not saying it can't be done, but I'm sure it voids the warranty and would be a fair amount of work to have the fridge die prematurely. Good luck, Ryan!

A lot of people overdo the whole overheating thing...

It really depends how you build it. If you give a good 1 inch or so around the skin at most spots you will be fine..if your super paranoid just wire up a small 9v fan to blow air around. You can make the front look nice and 'form fitting', but behind that i would leave a bit of a gap around the left and right sides.

Im not 100% familiar with the Danby, but your best bet is probably going to be to get your top figured out so that it s its nice and flush with the top, then take all the taps off the tower assuming you can, drill a hole in the right spot for the tower and drop the top right down on top of the kegerator.

Or you could just remove the entire tower, mount your top, drill a hole and remount your tower on the wood. Being anal though i'd want to find some way to insulate the hole you formed between the top of the kegerator and tower which may be 1/2" apart now depending on how thick you go on the top...but thats easily with some spray foam insulation once you get it all setup and your lines redone.
