do I need for a 3.3# can of LME if i am going to use it for starters?

Trying to find a use for this can I've had lying around.

4 gallons will get you 1.030
3 gallons will get you 1.040
my general rule of thumb for starters is 1 ounce DME per cup of water, and conveniently that's also the same as 1 pound per gallon. LME and DME have different yields but close enough (when talking about starters) to use the same rule of thumb. By that rule, 3.3 gallons would put you around 1.036, which is fine for a starter.
