I brewed an 5 gallon Imperial Stout batch about 3 weeks ago and transferred it to the secondary last night. I added 1 "Medium Char" oak spiral that I let soak in some Woodford Reserve for about a month. I have no experience using oak and most of the info I find is pertaining to oak chips.

What would be the recommended time to let the spiral sit in my fermenter?

That's a lot longer than I had anticipated. I thought 1-2 weeks tops was going to do it. Guess I'll be letting this sit for a while longer now.

Imperial stout is usually a big beer I would let it age in for a while more than likely some time goes by before that oak starts to shine through but when that day comes it's all worth it
