I have an area where grape leaves are grown. The vines do an up 10 feet and over kinda thing..They make a canopy with the leaves. I was thinking on trying to grow some hop vines here..Is there an average length that hop vines can grow? Can you cut them back every so often?

Hop bines can easily grow 30' in a season, so they'll grow on the trellis just fine. Generally after they get about 3' tall you cut back all but the 5 strongest bines to the ground and let those go crazy with growth.

also bines die back every year so you need to be able to pull the dead bines off of ant structure that you train them up.

The side arms that bear the cones are always near the top of the bine, so I wouldn't trim them during the growing season. They will climb anything they can get a grip on and die back to the root each year.
