How high is your coffin top??

I'm building a coffin top keezer. After making the 2x8 collar, I placed it on top of the freezer and measured down to the floor.
With the freezer on a wheeled base, a 2x8 collar and a 3 inch thick top (including tile), the surface of the top will be 44-1/2" of the floor. Then the coffin will sit of top of that.
Does that seem high to you?

It might be a little tall for shorter people. I'm 6'5" and the counter-top portion on my keezer is at 45.5", then the top of the coffin is another 14.5 inches higher (taps are mounted 57.5" from the floor). Most of my friends are shorter than me and they don't have any issues reaching the taps.

I'm planning one right now that will be 48" off the floor. Who cares about short people? Ha. May as well protect your back.

Thanks for the comparative dimensions! My wife might need a step stool. She's 4'-11-1/2". But then again, she doesn't like real beer with real flavor anyway...

Sorry for the glib remark.

The dimensions are helpful I agree.

Lol, no offense taken for me. I was going to mention, one of my female friends is just a hair over 5' tall and she has no trouble pouring a beer. It might be uncomfortable for her if she was pouring beers all night long, but the 10-ish seconds it takes to fill a glass doesn't seem to impact her at all. I figure since I've had to bend down since I was about 14 just so I can see the top of my head in the average bathroom mirror, it's ok to expect shorter people to stretch a little bit to reach my tap handles.

No offense from me either! I give my wife hell about being short all the time... ;)

Didn't mean to ignore you. I appreciate all the info I can get! Just wanted to thank microbus for the top & tap height. It gave me a comparison to measure against.

It's still going to look tall. But will make it easier to stick my mouth under and open the tap! LOL... I can't wait!!

:mug:

I did a preliminary fitting of my freezer (Idylis 7.1 cu ft) and the uprights and top rail on my frame.
With it up on the wheels and all it sure seems a bit higher than I was thinking it would be.
I don't think it is too tall just yet but I thought I might take a step back and think about it a bit more before I glue anything else together and make it permanent.

I've attached my sketchup model as a reference. The top is 3" tall on top of a 45" tall base which ends up being a bit higher than 48" when the wheels are included (not modeled).

Note: The Guinness glass isn't to scale I don't think.
