Just recieved my false bottom and it looks to me like it sites higher then it should...Maybe its just me?

Disregard this I should have checked entire package for leg screws before I complained.
However I am looking to brew my first batch with this as my MT and was wondering If I pre-heat this do you think insulation is really necessary at most I would Reflectix A Lid...I dont have pump So i was thinking just opening the valve and draining whatever water I was using for sparge out into my BK, while leaving initial strike water in the MT and doughing in. Think I would loose allot temperature wise?
