How do you modify the 1-2-3 rule for kegging?

My first batch is sitting in the secondary and I'm wondering how long I should leave it there before kegging it. I know that most people here suggest that for noobs, the 1-2-3 rule works well for bottling. Is there a similar rule for kegs?

I'd assume that I'd leave it in the secondary an additional week or two, and then one week in the keg to carbonate. Any advice??

Simply put: you don't.

The reason for the '3' isn't just about carbonation-- it's about letting the beer rest so that it can mellow a bit with age.

Keg, bottle, whatever--- letting the beer rest after the fermentation process improves it. It's not 'done' for a few weeks after being put into the bottle/keg.

I go straight from the fermentor to kegs, so it's two weeks in the primary & four in the keg, but still six total.

Another thing I've found is that the beer clarifies a lot when cold conditioned for awhile. I put the secondary in the fridge after about a week. I keep it cold for about 2 weeks then keg. I then force carbonate and it's ready to drink. About 3 weeks after kegging it is clear as can be. (If there is any left)
