I have a brewpot with the handles tack welded to it. http://imgur.com/a/p1aEG

I need to remove the handles. How do I best do it ?

I'm thinking I should try to drill each one of the weld points to weaken them and then break them by prying on the handle. When I'm done, I'll grind (and polish) off the remnant material ?

I wouldn't do that. If you don't want the handles, carefully cut through right above where the tubing was crushed flat. Those spot welds are way stronger than you think and you will pull the pot apart trying to remove.

I agree with Bobby, don't drill the welds as you will either drill through or tear the wall. If the photos you liked to are your kettle the walls are very thins and won't handle a lot stress from working the metal. If you really want or need a smooth surface you are better off grinding the handles off with an angle grinder or similar tool. Use a medium grit wheel (start with 120 or 150) and don't lay into it aggressively or you will cut a hole in the wall.
