I bought one of the Vintners Reserve kits that makes 6 gallons. The instructions say to use a primary fermenter that is at least 8 gallons. I have a 6.5 gallon fermenter that I use for brewing beer. I really don't want to buy another bucket. Is the 6.5 gallon big enough, or do I really need an 8 gallon bucket?

I (we) just finished primary on SWMBO's kit...(Island Mist, so I don't know if this is relevant, but I actually used my Ale Pale. I measured 6 gallons right at the spot where the handle mounts.
It worked.
If she likes it and we do more, I will get a bigger primary for wine, but it worked.
:mug:

It will work sometimes, but 1 time it doesnt is enough for me. Dont even think of doing a big red kit in there please, or if you do please have camera ready.
