*** Renamed the Title of this thread from Hosehead to Elsinore to get more interest***

Hello all! I've used this forum for a little over a year (since I started brewing) and been a silent lurker/learner! Well, I finally built a 3 vessel HERMS system and bought a Hosehead 5BC to control things. I haven't done a brew yet, been leak testing and so forth. I've used the Hosehead to heat water for cleaning and so far I'm pretty impressed with it. That said, while at first it seems pretty simple and straight forward, I think this thing can do much more than simply controlling the on-off switches of my elements and pumps. I see features like Load BeerXML and I guess that means I can load my recipe from Beersmith or Brewersfriend and it will automate the process somewhat. I loaded one but I don't see that it's really "done" anything. I was kind of expecting a "brew" button or something and then some temperature monitoring and timers to be prompting me...am I just wishful thinking? Does anyone have any beginners tips on how to use Elsinore?

Thanks,
Randy

Elsinore is still under heavy development, check out the reddit.com/r/strangebrewelsinore page to keep up to date.

FuzzeWuzze, sorry for the somewhat late response. Thanks for the info. I've looked at that site and was looking more for some practical tips on using it...right now I'm just using it as a control panel if you will (just turning on/off the components) and I was looking for info on automating tasks.

Anyway, thanks again!
Randy

It is a tough road. Elsinore is functional but I can't get any of the automated features to work with the Hosehead. "Heavy development" has been going on for a long time but it is tough to follow in my opinion. I won't cry too loud because it was essentially free with the price of the Hosehead but it leaves a little to be desired imho.
