I just tapped a Gose Sour and made a mistake by adding hibiscus flower petals. I dry hopped 1 ounce of dried flowers in a 5G keg overnight and it is PINK! I got this idea after having a having a commercial hibiscus Gose and it was very appealing.
My beer is a 50/50 Pils/wheat malt (WLP029 Kolsch) and I was looking for the protein haze not thinking the Gose I was emulating was mostly clear. So now I have what looks like a pink strawberry milkshake.....all cloudy and such and real pink. BUT it tastes darn great!
If I add a generous dosing of gelatin will that help me clear some of the protein haze that is helping to suspend that horrendous pink milkshake color? Live and learn. Never make mistakes if you don't try.
