hop resin?

I have been drinking tonight and noticed something. Every once and again I notice that I get a spicy resiney flavor and aftertaste in my mouth when drinking. This can be on everything from a Guinness to an homebrewed IPA. Does anyone else ever notice this?

I had a weird recurring "off" flavor in a few of my beers. Turns out it was just alcohol. Once I started being as critical to commercials as I was to my homebrew, things evened out.

Sometimes all I have to do is think hard and I can get a nice hoppy, resiney flavor.
