I have a plan for a recipe that would appeal to a wider range of people than my current offerings. Would this make for a nice crisp, "citrusy" brew? I've never used Citra hops before but have read up on them a little.

For 5 gallon fermenter volume:

15 lbs Great Western California 2 Row
6.5 oz Honey Malt
4 oz Carapils

0.4 oz Magnum for 60 min
0.5 oz Citra for 15 min then again at 5 min

US 05 or another clean yeast (I wash and repitch dry yeast, blasphemy I know)

Any suggestions are welcome! Also, not making an IPA here so no making fun of the small hop additions. :D

I made a Citra Pale Ale a while back that used Citra hops. Turned out wonderful. Best way to describe it...Grapefruit IPA! Then again, I used alot more Citra hops then you're recipe.

I'm willing to alter my recipe if need be... this will be my 2nd custom recipe, my first was a cream ale that turned out pretty good. How much Citra did you use, and did it make it overly bitter? This brew is my mass appeal batch, something to give friends while I enjoy an imperial stout. :rockin:

Well, I can show you the recipe I used and let you decide. It was light-bodied, very refreshing, little tart w/o too much hoppy bitterness, good finish. Extremely smooth and easy to drink. Basically grapefruit taste w/o the sour, and IPA without OMG hops in your face.

8 1/2 LBS - US 2-Row Pale Malt
1/2 LB - Vienna Malt
1/2 LB - Munich 10L
1/2 LB - Crystal 40L

1/2 OZ - Magnum (14% AA) @ 60 min
1/4 OZ - Citra (12% AA) @ 10 min
1/4 OZ - Cascade (5.5% AA) @ 10 min
1/4 OZ - Citra (12% AA) @ 1 min
1/4 OZ - Cascade (5.5% AA) @ 1 min
1/4 OZ - Citra (12% AA) @ 0 min
1/4 OZ - Cascade (5.5% AA) @ 0 min)

WLP 001 - California Ale Yeast

Primary - 2 weeks
Dry Hopped in Secondary with 1 oz of both Citra and Cascade for 2 weeks before kegging.

Interesting. This recipe will be my first foray into non-U.K. hops. It should be fun, and I made a few minor adjustments.
