Alright guys this is my first post but i have been lurking for months now and used all the great information to design a couple of my own beers (extract for now). I will be getting into all-grain this. Anyways..... What i'd like to do is create a homebrewtalk IPA.
Rules are it needs to be an all-grain beer, 5-gallon batch and must be in the guidelines (OG,FG,ABV, Color) of an IPA or Double IPA.
You can only post one ingredient, instruction or techniques IE: mash temperature, one of the grains, one of the hops with time. And it has to cost under $80.00 to brew.

Obviously we are going to have to adjust for mash efficiency and water volume but that's not a big deal.

Also $80 might mean something different to everyone. I buy bulk 2 row for $0.72/lb and I buy hops like simcoe for $12 and a pound of nelson for $30 which is way less than buying them by the oz.
I reuse yeast by making a large starter and pitching what I need and saving the rest for a future starter so I rarely buy yeast anymore. That saves me $5-8 a batch.

That being said couldnt you just use the price of how much you use. Youd be well below 80

I was JUST thinking of way to do the very same thing! So in!

Do we just post... now?

If so my ingredient is

Good old... Maris Otter!

Half of a medium-to-large sized salmon. I'll let the beer experts here determine which half.

It doesn't have to go into the actual beer, just keep it handy... Just in case....

I guess it's gonna be a double eye PA. ;)

Post ingredients and amount... IE: 1 oz Centennial hops at 60 minutes. One post per user which = one ingredient with instructions for use.

If you're interested in doing this, take a look at that beersmith link I posted. It might be beneficial to have some guidelines so we don't end up with an Ipa with 19% abv and a metric ton of black peppercorn added at flameout.

We had each member add an ingredient and we discussed it and at the end we fine tuned the recipe.

That is why i posted that it must be within the guidelines of Double IPA. The ABV you posted would be outside the guidelines. I agree though we can come back and look at the recipe. The idea was that we get a recipe down that has everyone contributing and then we can brew a few batches to see how it turns out..dedicate it to the homebrewtalk forum. The key points i want to hit is grain bill, mash temps, hops schedule, additives and yeast or yeasts.

Ok I'm game.
What are your thoughts on the process? Did you want to open the floor for everyone to give suggestions? Or did you want to have people give suggestions in in order, like someone picks a base malt, then someone else picks a specialty malt, someone else picks another specialty malt?
