Speaking of which - anyone heard anything about the next release of Clara or Edith? Really enjoyed those last year.
And Shaun mentioned something on Twitter last year about rebrewing a re-engineered version of Dorothy. Anyone know what happened to that?

I bothered Shaun on twitter a while ago about Clara because I ******* love that beer, he said probably not until summer at the earliest. Which makes sense, given that it is a summer beer of sorts.

I greatly prefer the "regular" saisons (Arthur, Anna, Florence, Clara. Preference between them really depends on the day but I think Arthur reigns supreme most of the time)

Convivial and Soigne are also great, of course.

We did this a while ago, but my rankings at the moment of the non-bal stuff are now probably more like:

Convivial > Anna > Soigne > Arthur > Clara > Vera Mae > Florence

Still haven't had Edith or Sankt Hans.

Vera Mae and Clara are getting the short end of the stick here because it seems like whatever happened to the saison culture/aging process has dramatically improved most of these beers (which were already ******* amazing to begin with), but haven't had new batches of them in a year.

It's been a while since I've had Vera Mae, but **** I love that beer. I feel like anyone ranking Hill saisons is going to have different orders. Soigné would probably be top of my list though. That's all I can say for sure. That and Edith would be at the bottom

$30 750s of Sarrasin isn't ridiculous when the alternative could've been $15 375s (that no one would've balked at)...

Sarrasin is easily one of my favorite Hill Farmstead beers ever. Really glad to have it in larger format, personally.

The last batch of Sankt Hans was amazing. The first batch seemed to have been a bit underwhelming - hence the low scores on that other site, but holy hell if Shaun didn't nail it with the 2nd batch. If they put it in third-use BVDL barrels, I'm thinking we can crack $100.

As a side note, Cable Car was $60 new this year. It's also not a BA saison, but one of its base beers starts as a saison...

Funny how initially using 375's was a way to 'spread it around' (and also increase the price).
Interesting that a bottle that almost certainly would've been $20 a year ago is FS at $30.

Will stick with Arthur and Soigne. The saisons don't need a wine barrel as long as they have that HF house culture.

You're doing straight $/oz calculations, which don't apply. You need to use beer hoarder math. Here are some key axioms.

375 funky $/volume > 750 funky $/volume
12 oz BB stout $/volume << waxed 750 BB stout $/volume
3L AWA $/volume >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> all of Belgium's lambics combined

Not that I care but...

the argument 2 years back for 375mL's was to 'spread it round'. Everyone assumed that the $5 premium per bottle compared to 750mL pricing (again, at the time) was for additional labor & glass (and dat smaller format).

Now they clearly don't have a supply issue with this batch, but are sticking with the increased pricing in a larger format bottle.

I'm not sure why a wine barrel adds $18-20 to the cost of a 750mL but apperently many people think it is worth it (not me).
