Abner kicked. Looks like Everett is on. Opinions on excursions/Amarillo? I am a huge fan of abner and haven't had any since last may. So kinda(a lot) disappointed. I wouldn't be disappointed if enlightenment was tapped...

Not that Abner isn't great (it is), but this batch was mildly disappointing to me. However, that's in context of the prior batch I had (late January?) which was far and away the best Abner batch I've ever had. Amarillo was good (not my favorite single hop), and I really liked Excursions. Lots of sweet citrus rather than grapefruit/bitter citrus. And then S&S #5 is incredible as always.

sitting at my desk reading these post gets me damn thirsty.

How is this batch of Arthur tasting? I'm thinking of throwing up an ISO, but wanna make sure this batch is spot on.

Addition of everett tap is great news. That and SS5 could last me the rest of eternity.

Fingers crossed ba everett bottles last 1 more day....

tomorrow I am sure will be the last day since the entire east coast is swarming to Waterbury this weekend

What hops are used in S&S #5 again? All I'm really able to find on the website is "American and New Zealand hops". Anybody know more?

Educated guesswork, but I'm fairly sure there is a substantial amount of Simcoe and Riwaka. Possibly Motueka, based on having had the Motueka Single Hop, but that's pretty much a straight guess.

Riwaka probably isn't substantial (though it might be in either dry-hop or whirlpool, making the flavor prominent). Its 2013 crop was kind of a disaster. No word on 2014 yield yet.

Susan has a substantial amount of Riwaka and has been brewed several times in the past year (although, to be fair, not in a few months? When was the last time it was on?). Again, educated guesswork and hearsay, but my understanding is that HF is the largest (only?) major American consumer of Riwaka, which leads me to believe that Shaun's going to have gotten what he wants regardless of the crop. But again, this is guesswork, so you might be totally right, I really don't know.

EDIT: Also, the hop trading on probrewer.com is really fun to read.

That's a good point about Shaun's abilities to get what he wants. I know one of our local brewers here managed to get some Riwaka, and then it got held at customs in Australia, where they were mostly spoiled. A very sad story.

That sucks. Riwaka is awesome.

Alpine Tuatara has been using Riwaka and Motueka hops for 5 years now but I'm guessing that's in far smaller quantities than HF. I can't remember if they actually brewed it last year though, so that might be why.

Yeah, pretty sure Tuatara took 2013 off.

Has anyone in here opened their BA Everett yet? How was it? I haven't been in the mood to drink a BA porter recently

i have to wait to open the bottle for family to be in town, but I have been itchin' to. Some other beer site has this Rating: 94% - ‎88 votes

I'm guessing that's mainly (or entirely) from the last batch from a couple years ago. I'd be curious to know what barrels this edition was aged in. The 1st batch was aged 7 months in Buffalo Trace and Utopias barrels, this one was aged 20+ months.

yeah but....Sarrasin is being 'debuted' this weekend.

(I mean, I could give two ***** anyway, I'll be up there getting both whenever they are released.)
