It can go through a lot of changes I guess right? Some lambics have awkward periods for a few months.
It's totally possible. Crooked Stave recently had issues with diacetyl in some of their beers (e.g. Persica), and from what I understand, the solution was to let it sit at room temp vs cellar temp to let the bugs finish cleaning up the diacetyl. This could very well be what's going on here, though I obviously am speculating, didn't make either of the beers and have no clear idea what I'm talking about.
