I want brewers to make good beer. I don't care about their personalities. You have to be at least a little off to start your own business making beer for a living. It makes for more interesting people. Stop pointing at their supposed social media transgressions as if it means anything and get some fresh air.

You are surprised "the guy who made people write essays about how awesome HFS is" tried to get more self validation?

touche but for some reason i was under the (potentially erroneous) impression that hf didnt enter beers in gabf/wbc - at least in the last couple years

Sorry for commenting about a beer related tweet on a beer message board. Guess I'll go join the Heady vs Pliny thread

Brewery threads generally exist as a catch-all for events, releases, and discussions about the beer. It can be a little irritating to have to comb through three pages of bickering about the brewer's personality or piling on by saying this or that beer sucks. All snark aside, maybe take it to a separate thread to discuss Shaun's social media presence specifically or brewers/breweries in general where the customer service isn't to your satisfaction. You're not getting grief about making said comment on a message board, but rather where on that message board you chose to do it.

I can't see how commenting on a brewer's social media presence with regards to an industry-wide function isn't germane to a conversation about the brewery itself. It falls right in line with the catch-all. He creates this for himself. People who are upset about us posting about it think we're the only ones saying something about... but I guess they don't go look at all the times someone re-tweeted his displeasure before he deleted it.

Considering I use this thread for release information, I find this pointless.

Create another thread and go nuts.

You're attaching entirely too much consequence to this. It's not that I necessarily disagree with your point, it's just that I really don't care. And then to have to hear about it over and over and over again. We get it...there's a contingent that's cheesed off about his ego. If we all sign something that acknowledges this, can we just move on and discuss the beer?

Your logic is flawless.

So is yours. "Don't talk about a brewer in a thread about the brewery" ... yeah ok.

You know how this could have been avoided? Shauwne Chill could have just been normal for once. Or... all you Hill Farmstead white knights could have just not responded to a screenshot of a tweet. Instead, you guys fall into the same predictable pattern. Every. damn. time. It's great.

That's not talking about beer. There's no "brewery personnel talk" forum, so this will suffice.

"I will keep annoying people by grinding this axe and then smugly enjoy getting a rise out of them." Great sense of community, hombre. No one is asking you to stop discussing it. We're just asking that you not do it here. I don't understand why that's unreasonable.

I don't care one way or the other. I hate sorting through all this though.

I. Don't. Give. A. ****.

Look at your messiah to get a sense of "community". I mean really.... calling the biggest professional brewers association a joke? Great sense of community, hombre.

While I do think it is a joke to some extent and a lot of the winners are total ******** it's totally unprofessional for Shaun to whine about that kind of **** in public. Whining and getting that rustled feeling is what he does best though.

Who's messiah? I just like drinking his beer. I don't understand why I'm supposed to get worked up about people I don't know arguing on Twitter. Why are you so fixated on the guy?

Totally. Is it a totally legit completion? No, but is anything? You pretty much hit it dead on: total lack of professionalism.

Way to miss the point entirely. Community, what?

This is some very funny stuff. Seriously... you're talking about OTHERS' predictable patterns?? You might be the funniest guy on this site, or you might be the least self-aware person out there. Your playbook appears to be:

1. Post some scathing thing about someone's character, while also claiming not to care about that person.
2. Claim to know perfectly well the person's intentions and motivations.
3. When challenged, change the topic.

I've only been on this forum for a few weeks, and these patterns are already apparent to me.

(Preparing for SeaWatchman to lash out at me--or change the subject--in 3... 2... 1...)

Anyhow, I'll be going to HF on Thursday I think. If anyone in this thread will be up as well, and has an extra bottle of Brother Soigne or newest Arthur (or both) and wants to work something out, let me know. I've got Backacre, Florence, Convivial, or maybe something else that'd interest you.

Thread is moving too fast, so I'm reposting in case anyone is interested.

I'm so glad I don't have facebook or twitter, so I can just be ignorant to all this **** (well, at least until I open this thread)

Jesus Christ. I'll sum up my point and step out of this.

There are very, very few people that express idol worship for the guy. They annoy me as much as they likely annoy you. The vast majority of people in this thread just want to talk about the beer. You're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill and get frustrated when people don't gnash their teeth along with you. You're displaying the same pretense and ego you accuse Shaun of. Copping to taking great pleasure in continually getting people riled up is a personality flaw.

Edit:

Way to miss the point entirely. Community, what?

I'm not a part of that community. I'm not in the Brewer's Association and I don't know Shaun Hill. I do not give a flying **** about how people interact with each other in communities I'm not a part of. If you're a part of that community, go piss and moan to them. Why drop a bunch of grief into the laps of people who aren't involved?

Why would I "lash out" at you? I don't really see where I've changed the subject, but ok. If you look at the progression of this thread from my initial post on page 85, all I did was ask what he was mad about now. That's it. Hardly scathing, at all. It got picked up from there. I asked if he didn't win or something. That went unanswered. I posted a picture of the Brewers Association response to the tweet. Again, hardly scathing. I then called him whiny. Is that untrue? Nope. Then you've got Osyrus coming in there and attacking me. I legitimately have not changed the subject or posted anything that outlandish. One picture of trill farmstead, I guess. Then I said that I don't care what beers people like... I guess that's controversial? I guess I could see how you would be mad because I said god's not real. Then I talked about how the content of the past few pages is completely legitimate.

So yeah, I've never changed the subject (but you've done a great job of that yourself), I've said it's predictable how it turns out (and it is), and I really challenge you to objectively negate any of the points I've made. But... yeah, I'm the worst.

I blame Obama for this thread.
