I'm on my third batch of beer and I thought I read to add all the DME and the 1/2 gallon LME after steeping the grains. However I was supposed to only add the LME with 15 minutes left on the clock during the hops boil. Will adding the LME earlier in the process yield dramatically different results? This is an Oktoberfest Lager btw.

Thanks!

Perhaps some caramelization of the Extract being boiled that long. Certainly a different hop profile outcome from the high boil gravity.

It'll be a slightly different kind of delicious I would guess.

Maybe a bit darker too if what I remember from researching late extract additions versus early is correct. Also, I think any differences would depend on the volume of the boil to some extent.

There will be a slightly different flavor and aroma to the beer but the beer itself should be fine. It just will not taste exactly as the recipe intended.
