Hey everyone, I'm in Jacksonville, FL and looking to get into brewing my own beer. I don't really know much about it yet other than reading some stuff online and watching some videos, but it seems like something I'd love to do. Right now I'm trying to figure out what I need. Right now I'm looking at getting a kit from austin home brewing, some caps, and I'll use bottles that I recycle from beer I buy. Would that be all I need to get started and be able to start brewing right away? Thanks for the help!

Hi! Welcome to the forum and welcome to the hobby. I am in Jax as well and am the current president of the local homebrew club. Jax is a great place to get involved in the hobby as we have a great and active club and a good local shop right next door to Bold City on Roselle. Our club just won the florida circuit competition this past weekend.

The club meets the second Saturday of every month at different breweries around town. We have classes and competition and drink a lot! We are having our annual Belgian competition at Aardwolf this month and the meeting starts at 6.

There will be a learn to homebrew day on 11/4 starting at 10am at Just Brew It on Rosselle st. You can come see different set ups and meet club members. I will be there doing either a Brew in a bag or extract recipe.

Welcome, and I believe you will have a great time home brewing. I know I have. That kit will get you started but remember there will always be something else you need... WANT that you must buy... LOL more want than need really. I would also recommend catching up with jekeane and check out the local club. So much to learn so little time to BREW!
