Hi, I am dying to brew my first beer! But I don't have the equipment yet :( I read on this site constantly and it's only making the itch to brew worse lol. I bought John palmers How To Brew and am feeling confident. But no telling when I'll afford a kit. And is it a bad idea to start off with all grain?

Welcome to the forums. I can understand the itch, it never goes away... I started out doing all grain right out of the gate. It does present many more challenges when getting started out, but I find the pay off to be worth it. I have never tried extract or partial-mash, but wouldnt be opposed to it, heck... you are making BEER! Honestly, it comes down to cost when going all grain. It will cost more to get started, but its worth it. Cheers, hope to see you post your first brew here in the near future.

If you want to start off all grain by all means do so. Depending on how you want to setup you can get started with extract cheaper, then add equipment for all grain later. You can do the biab pretty low price also.

only $$$ difference between going extract first vs all grain is you can start easy with extract then piece together your AG setup. or you can drop the bomb and get the AG setup.

another thing is too, you wont know which type of AG setup you will want because you haven't had the chance to experement if you want pumps, a pump, three tier, two tier, single with a wort grant etc.... thats where the issues come in

Yeah, all I know is that I want to make a great tasting beer. And it sounds fun to experiment with flavors and stuff. But most likely I'll have to start with extract.
