looking for someone who can calculate my starting gravity.
i made an all grain batch and ended up with 24 litres of 1.050 wort.
i found 3 pounds of liquid amber extract laying around - boiled it for 15 minutes and added it to the main batch.
what is my new starting gravity?
i played around at beer tools and "made" a 24 litre batch with 3 lbs of liquid amber extract and it showed a starting gravity of 1.015.
am i correct in adding 1.050 and .015 to get my starting gravity of 1.065?
thanks for any input

I don't have the figures (I think this is the right method)

If the malt gives 1040 for 1lb in 1 gallon
Then
3 lb in 1 galon give 1120.
so 120/6 gallon = 20.
So you wort will go from
1050 to 1070.
You need to adjust for your values.
Are my methods right?

Your adjustments sound correct.

I made a simple recipe that had a 1.050 OG for 24L of wort. I then added 3lbs of amber LME and it calculated an OG of 1.066. So it looks like your estimate was pretty good.

BTW: When I ran a 24L recipe with just 3lbs of Amber LME, it estimated an OG of 1.017.

thanks - just like to know where i started to calculate the abv%
after 10 days in primary it is down to 1.014 so i am around 6.7% right now
