Hey guys, I wanna make my standard brewery logo from the pic below. I downloaded the program Gimp but I am pretty overwhelmed by it. I've never used any graphic programs before but I need to figure it out. My brewery name is Thirsty HoBo Brewing and its based around this guy...

Thanks for any help/ideas! :mug:

There's also just a cutout of the hobo guy if you need it:

Thanks a lot man. He looks much better against the dark background. What program are you using? I downloaded Gimp but its like learning another language for me :rockin:

I work as a designer, so I use photoshop. But that's probably a little out of your price range.

When I was in high school (mid 90s) I used to use pirated versions, but since I started doing it professionally I actually had to bite the bullet and buy a legit version, setting me back about $600.

I don't know what you should use for freeware. Paint Shop Pro is supposed to be an inexpensive route to go for this sort of thing.

Gimp is a bit confusing at first, but mess around with it. The ability to use layers and select things in a variety of "smart" ways really make image editing easy. Gimp's text tools are a little unwieldy and could use some improvement. If you get the latest version (beta/release candidate) 2.4, it has some decent text tools (text along path is particularly useful). See these sites:

Thanks Yuri. I'll have to study up on those tutorials. THe version I got is 2.2 so I'll have to get the updated version. It seems like cool software if you know how to use it. Cheers...
