Hey guys,

I'm still in the honeymoon phase at homebrewing and I need some help with reading my hydrometer (I didn't take the greatest of pictures, sorry). I'm still not getting it so I've decided to swallow my pride and reach out the masters. BTW, this is an Imperial IPA.

Not sure what the first one was because of the bubbles. The second one looks around 1.020ish, which is pretty high, but depending on what the recipe was, what the OG was, what yeast, might be accurate.

Thanks 8rnw8,

The first pic was around 1.112(ish). You are correct on the second pic (1.020ish)

It's an Imperial IPA (partial mash) recipe that I put together at the local homebrew store.

.25 lb. of Crystal Malt 1
.25 lb. of Crystal Malt 2
.50 lb. Munich

9 lbs. extra light pale ale malt extract (liquid)
1 lb. corn sugar21oz Warrior
1oz Galaxy
2oz Simcoe
1oz New Zealand Nelson Sauvin
2oz Mosaic
a pitch of Irish Moss
Whitelabs WLP001

Dry hopping (today) in two stages 1oz Amarillo, 1oz of Citra. Three days later, 1 oz of Citra.

I keep coming up with around 11.5% which I'm finding hard to believe.
