I want to brew a crisp citrusy hef. I've been trolling the recipe threads and this is what I came up with. Any suggestions?

.5 pounds crystal 10L steeped for 30 mins at 150f

6 pounds of wheat DME; half at beginning of boil half at 15 mins remaining

1oz tettnanger hops at 60 mins

.5 oz cascade hops at flame out

Wyeast 1010 American Wheat.

Your recipe wouldn't be a traditional Hefe. This is really just a standard wheat.

If you want a traditional Hefewiezen, you need 3 lbs Pilsner DME/LME, 3 lbs Wheat DME/LME, and 1.0 oz Hallertau as your 60 min bittering hop addition, then use Wyeast 3068 Weizen yeast.

The Cascade will give you a subtle citrusy nose, but if you want something more pronounced, try 0.5 oz of Citra or Amarillo at 5 minutes.

Good luck!

I'm shooting for an American style wheat beer. I guess I made the mistake of using hef interchangeably with wheat.

Although I will save you suggested recipe for another batch in the future.
