I'm trying to add some mulling spices to my cider. I have read some methods and I would like to try the vodka tincture approach.
It seems that most of what I read just simply describes their method as, "so then I made a tincture... then boom. Cider with spice." I think how it works is that you add spice to a small amount of vodka, let it sit for a while and then pour the vodka (without the spice) into your cider to taste?
What I was looking to get a ballpark idea of was the following...
1. How much spice do you start out with when making the tincture?
2. How long should I wait for the spice to soak?
3. What's a ballpark estimate for how much of the tincture to add?
Is there anything I'm missing? Sorry if this seems so painfully basic. It's just another one of those things that I haven't really seen explained and just get glossed over quickly.
