Hi All

I bottled my first home brew yesterday. I am a little unsure as the last couple of bottles I bottled from the bottom of the drum now appear to have a thick plug of sediment on the top of the liquid inside the bottle. Is this normal?

It would a good inch thick, this has only happened on the last couple of bottles i filled. I guess it is the sediment from the hops etc.

Shall i get rid of these couple of bottles or will this thick plug dissapear

could be from the bottom of the bucket. how long after you bottled it did it show up? if your gonna keep them i would keep them seperate from the others. just incase its something weird and you get a bottle bomb or something.

if its just sediment though it should sink to the bottom after a while. not sure if it will taste the same, and you will have to be carefull not to pour it into your glass when you drink it. i would probably keep it just to see. who knows, might learn something. but still i would keep them in a place where if they do blow, they won't ruin anything else.

Hey thanks for your quick reply. I bottled it aout 24 hours ago and i know that these bottles came from the bottom of the bucket. Just not sure if the gunk is going to dissolve? It appears to be residue from the Hallatau Hops i added

Don't think it's going to dissolve in, but it will sink. Just pour carefully and leave it in the bottle. Use these as your tasting bottles while you age the rest for 3 weeks.
