I have had great success FWH, I have used .5 oz apollo on 2 diff batches and it has produced some nice bittering for me. Seemed to mellow the bite of bittering if that makes sense, comparing it to adding at boil on 2 other batches. Could FWH your chinook..

drop melanoiden and replace half your two row with golden promise. GP adds a nice soft bready flavor that goes well in DIPA.

Have to say that I have started using Apollo for bittering. I am a big Chinook fan, but the Apollo for bittering just works. Not as harsh

Thanks guys. I failed to mention I'm tweaking a kit: The 2 row and c20 are in one kit bag, but I might try the GP/MO idea anyway. Also subbing Apollo sounds like it's worth a try.

sounds tasty. I struggle with attenuation on big beers so would probably not add carapils. Might change that into wheat malt if you are looking for improved head retention.

Did not know that about carapils...
But, since I'll mash at 148-150 not sure attenuation will be a problem.
