So I kegged a really tasty wit on Sunday and I need it to be ready for the fourth next Saturday. That falls right on the two week set it and forget it mark, but I usually find that it is much better after three weeks. So I was wondering if I am doing my keg Any favors in expediting the situation by walking by it and giving it a good shake every now and again. I just really want this keg to be prime to present to my college buddies, a tough crowd to say the least! Thanks for the help.

Shake the hell out of it until your arms get tired or you don't hear any more gas going through the regulator. Do that a few times and you'll be very nearly good to go. Also, the colder the beer is, the better it will take the gas, which will make it ready faster.

Shaking increases the surface area of the beer that is exposed to the CO2, which expedites the carbonation.

That's the best way, make sure to shake it a bit. I actually bump my pressure up to 30 psi for 2 full days and 20 psi for one day afterwards, shaking every now and then. After three days, it is basically fully carbed at which point I'll bleed the pressure down to about 10psi and just let it sit at 10 psi for the remainder. I usually serve anywhere between 8-10psi. I'm actually kegging two batches on Monday and both should be good to go by the 4th.
