So I just did a split batch of an experimental saison, I just added 46oz of Reisling grape concentrate after Krausen fell, and i'm going to dry hop with nelson sauvon.

I wanted to use my hydrometer to measure the gravity of the concentrate so I can accurate figure out my final ABV. I had to dilute the concentrate to 75% water, 25% grape concentrate to get it on the scale of my hydrometer, and it was 1.10 (23.8 BRIX).

So is the hydrometer scale linear? So would my grape concentrate be 1.40 without the 75% dilution? (78.7 brix!?)

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, the dilution will be linear.

The beer sounds good I have never tried using grape concentrate...but it wont be long now

Yeah I saw something like it on the northern brewer website and since I do a ton of saison I though it sounded like a great idea for summer. We'll see how it turns out.
