Just finished the final step of my 4 week wine kit (was degassing after going back into the bucket), and my only glass carboy broke. It's set to clear for 10 or more days now, but still in the bucket. Not sure what to do, since shopping is not a big option right now. Can it wait a day or two with the lid on until I fine one? The bucket it just a plain lid, not the kind with an air lock on top. Will this whole batch be ruined :(

I agree with Seamonkey. In the dim and distant past when folk made all kinds of country wines (from fruits or vegetables) at home they might simply use a plate to cover their fermenter and the CO2 that would be produced would be automatically "burped" as the pressure would lift the plate enough to expel the build-up of gas. If you have a large enough plate that you could sit atop your bucket that would help keep out air and would not prevent the gas from escaping. Adding some K-meta would further inhibit oxidation.
