Hey everybody its great to be here. I have experience fermenting wine and have been studying brewing beer for a bit but i just made my first foray into beer using a muntons nut brown ale kit. just wondering how important it is to rack to a secondary fermenter after 2 days? the ferment has died down but is still active, thanks everyone.

A lot of us just leave it in the primary for 3 to 4 weeks and then bottle. Kit instructions usually say to transfer to secondary but for most modest gravity beers it's not necessary. Lots of great threads on the subject so check 'em out. Happy brewing!
 
took me a bit to forego the secondary but I am strong proponent of primary only unless I'm dry hopping. Let the yeast finish doing it's job!
 
This was my fishy brew ever too and I left it in primary for two weeks then bottled it let it condition for two week and it worked for me I would leave it in fermenter at least nine days to be safe fermentation is finished. But only a gravity reading can tell you this.
 
Hey and welcome from a former Wisconsonite (Appleton). I'm no expert, but I generally leave it in primary at least a week then secondary for at least another week. Don't bottle (or keg) until the gravity is stable so you know fermentation has stopped. It won't hurt to leave it longer. Once it's in the bottle, it's hard to wait to let it condition so the flavors fully develop. So leaving it a bit longer before bottling might be helpful? A lot of people think it's better for the flavor to let it sit in either primary or secondary for several weeks. I can't attest to it b/c I'm haven't waited much beyond 3 weeks total before bottling/kegging.
