Hi All

Good to be on your Forum, Have been following for a couple of years but finally decided to register and take part.

I live in the Kruger National Park Game Reserve in South Africa, so deep in a wildlife area.

I got into brewing after ready a copy of Popular mechanics by chance some years ago. I now am obsessed and every day I get more carried away with this wonderful pastime.

The biggest challenges I have is availability of stock for brewing and the very poor water that I have here. My water comes from wells and sits at 1800ppm of Carbonates, Magnesium and zinc. I thus have no choice but to push my water through a double RO membrane system and it ends up being 0 ppm,

I just checked out your other post on the brew setups. Awesome setup you have going! looks like you do great given your location and water issues.

I also looked at the small photo that shows your brewing rig, did you make the wood insulated mash tun?
Also, it says you run a resort, do you serve the beer to guests?
Finally, have you been able to get any of the new Hops from South Africa that we've been hearing about? Can't remember the names, but they sound interesting. Cheers!

Yes I made the wooden insulating layer around my Mash tun. Its not very effective but looks good

No I don't serve beer to my guests I still need to get my license sorted out But with me brewing in theory on a licensed property this has been challenging as you not suppose to do so even although technically its not on site its in my private home, but explain that to the officials.

Yes I have used J17-63 Hops. Its fantastic. I made a single clone IPA with it that turned out very nice indeed. It was called African Sunset Ipa a session IPA. the flavor profile of this hops is very different. Pineapple, capsicum and a nice earthy ness.
