Just wanted to say hey from Pittsburgh. I have been really enjoying beer for a long time now and I consider myself a "hop head" i love any sort of IPA and they are definitely my go to beer. I have an appreciation for all beers except stouts for the most part. I am working on it though, only a matter of time before I enjoy them like anything else, even my next brew is a chocolate stout(easing into it lol).

My friends and I found this place where you could brew your own beer, and although the beer turned out TERRIBLE, I ordered a beer kit the same week after bottling. I have been obsessed with it ever since. I've brewed 3 extracts with steeping grains before upgrading my equipment to an all grain setup and I've brewed three all grains and working on my forth this week.

I've gotten a lot of help from the members here and look forward to a long time brewing and learning about this stuff. It brings such a sense of accomplishment when the beer comes out good and to share it with family and friends. :mug: "All for brew..."

You've got a decent supply store right there in town. I make a trip up to Pittsburgh at least once a month.

Which one do you head to? I have been using South Hill Brewing Supply, the one in Greentree. I am there atleast once a week lol. It's so hard not to grab another carboy and start another batch lol. I have three beers fermenting right now!

About 29 years ago but home is always Pittsburgh. My wife's father still lives there so we get home at least once and sometimes twice a year. Really miss the ethnic food and the countryside there. Ga is mostly flat except the northern part of the state which is the Appalachian foot hills and the locals call them mountains. Would love to bring them to the Pocconos (sp?) or some of the "burbs" up there for some authentic Polish or German or Italian food.

If you want to try a nice hoppy stout, Night Of The Living Stout, from Full Pint brewery is a nice one. It's a local brewery too so that's a bonus.

I'm originally from Erie, PA and moved down here for a job in 2004. Love the town, anything I want to do i can. I am outside of a big city, but can still get there in 15 minutes. A nice place to plant roots lol.

I haven't seen that one yet, I'll have to check it out. My wife really likes Full Pint, her favorite is there "All In Amber"

Yep i grew up on the east side of the burg...i miss it and maybe someday will move back. Surprised no one has mentioned Primantis, a burg fav! its hard for me to get perogies down here in FL too. Not much of a selection and i normally buy out the store when i get some. Im not buying that many at a time either...lol

Thats the one! Nice selection, and the guys there seemed pretty helpful. (I knew what I needed, but I saw them helping other folks.) I just wish it wasn't a 2 hour drive for me! :drunk:

Yeah they are really helpful. I just built a keezer and I needed a bunch of little pieces and fittings and kegs, and co2, etc etc. And They were with me the whole time as I went down that list and helping me find each and every part, and I have yet to need an ingredient they didn't have. I need to go pick up another keg actually...a reason to go back lol

I've been here since '04 and I've yet to get to the first permanis lol. I have gone to all the others, but the one I go to the most(closest) is the one on Moon. I'm their may once a month or so. I was there more often when I lived IN moon lol

Always good to see another brewing 'Burgher! I'm east of the city. Born and raised here. Started all grain brewing a year ago after learning the ropes for about a year with extract and specialty grains.

Theres a little shop on Allegheny River Blvd. in Oakmont where I buy most of my stuff. Sometimes I do go to South Hills Supply in Monroeville because I happen to be in the area at the time.

I'm ususally at the Rivertowne Pourhouse 2-3 times a week. I love their IPA. Probably my favorite local IPA.

My wife will get Mrs. T's pirogies from the frozen food section in the grocery store. They are not my mother in laws but they will do in a pinch. She will also make stuffed cabbage in the winter and I make home made pasta and sauce every once in a while but it's never often enough.

welcome to the forum.. my wife is from pgh so we head over that way quite a bit.. my brother in law actually lives in coraopolis, which i believe is right near you..

Yeah our last address was in coraopolis about 2 years ago.

I'll have to check out the pourhouse. I've only been to the Rivertowne bar down town by the pnc park. Good to see someone else from Pittsburgh lol. Are there any clubs or anything around here? It sucks when you get passionate about something and there is no one around to talk about it with. Or a place where you can give out beer and get opinions or help on off flavors or what I might be doing wrong, things like that
