Hey all. Just getting back into brewing after a long hiatus.
I brewed a couple batches years ago and decided to start the hobby again.
cheers
Dan

Hey Dan, welcome back to the hobby!

I took a long hiatus too...I brewed a lot in my early twenties, before taking a couple of decades off. Started up again early last year, and have been brewing like a maniac ever since!

You'll find some things have changed, mostly for the better. There is a bewildering range of equipment and ingredients available, much of which we never dreamed of back in the day. The same old skills still apply though!

Lol, Bobby.

Tuesday is a great day this week...payday, bonus day, and WHALES meeting.

If you're in central Jersey, Dan, there's a homebrew club meeting (WHALES) at JJ Bitting in Woodbridge at 8 pm on Tues.

I am in Mt. Laurel, Rancocas Woods

I'm in Haddonfield, I know Mt Laurel all too well from catching the New York bound greyhound bus once a week for about 18months.

Welcome aboard!

Any of you Jersey folks going to National Homebrew Day/Big Brew @ Beercrafters in Turnersville? I went once years ago it was pretty cool scene.

Hi all, Im in the Mt.Holly Area (Westampton) and work in Mt Laurel. I've been brewing for a year now and moved to All Grain in the winter. Where do you get your supplies from? local or online?

I go to Beer crafters in Turnersville www.beercrafters.com/
There is also a store @ Columbus Farm Market. I checked out this place a couple weeks ago. Seemed like mostly wine stuff. Propably OK to buy some equipment in a pinch but I don't know about ingreddiants.A small selection of very old and dusty looking LME, the kid said they had yeast and hops but he seemed pretty clueless . Their website looks pretty nice though http://www.makewinebeer.com/

Hola from the Jersey Shore...Brick Area. Welcome back to the addiction. Homebrew tastes the best. My local HBS is online.....Northern Brewer & Midwest Supply. The Brewer's Apprentice is OK, if you like to wait and be ignored.

Once again, welcome and get brewing!

I went to the place in Columbus and had to laugh at their lack of a store. The kid was clueless. I dont know how that place stays open.

I might get down to that this year. I usually go to Home Sweet Homebrew in Philly but Beercrafters is a pretty decent LHBS too. They had tons of different hops last time I was in there about 2 months ago.

No kidding, I grew up in Larchmont, in Devonshire. I'm actually back visiting the folks right now, I'm right down the street from you.

Did you have Gaetanos cheese steak yet?

Welcome Dan. Why the long hiatus from brewing?
I brewed a bunch of batches around 1989-1991. I enjoyed it and they all turned out pretty good. The house I lived in then had really big kitchen with a gas stove. After we moved I brewed maybe two batches and both were pretty awful. I think this had to do with me trying get too creative and not nailing a recipe and then gently tweaking it.
I started drinking , less making more money, and a lot more craft beers came on the market. So it just sort of fizzled out. A while ago I was looking for some podcasts to listen to and found a bunch of home brew ones and decided to pick it back up again.
I got the first batch in secondary and am really anxious to brew up another batch, but I don't think the wife sees the need for another five gallons of beer. Got to break her in slowly to the idea. I am really getting tempted to try some all grain , but I don't want to spend the money on all the equipment and then loose interest again.
