Hi

My name's Matt and I'm from Houston TX. Been brewing now for just 2 months and I'm hooked. Currently I've done one extract batch and have 2 more recipes planned out. In my current living space I don't have room for all-grain brewing but I plan to move onto that sometime this summer.

I'm a fulltime student at the University of Houston, double majoring in accounting and finance. I'm hoping to graduate in Spring 2011.

My only completed batch so far was an American Brown Ale. It came out tasting great though it's a little hazy and pretty dark for the style. I think I may have made a mistake on the amount of Irish Moss to use and went with one teaspoon instead of one tablespoon. You live and you learn I guess.

I have two IPAs planned. One to do this month or next and the other for the summer.

The first will use Simcoe and Amarillo hops drop hopped with Willamette to balance the pine with some floral aroma.

The next one is a Citra and Amarillo IPA that I'm really looking forward to brewing. It will be slightly lower gravity so a little more appropriate for TX summers I think.

I'm also working on a recipe for a hefeweizen that I'd like to save for when I can switch to all grain brewing.
