Hello From Florida

Hey all! I'm a 56 year old field engineer in commercial construction. I'm new to homebrewing and just made my first 3 batches of beer, an apfelwein and skeeter pee within the last couple of weeks. I'm really having a lot of fun reading and learning from all the great people on here. Can't wait to see if I can upgrade my brewing abilities.

Welcome to the forums. What kind of setup are you brewing on right now? Glad you're enjoying the hobby. Its a slippery slope from here on out! Next thing you'll know you'll be asking about how to wire up your new e-brewery.

Thanks for the welcome. Funny you mention e-brewing. I've been salivating in my beer glass looking at all the setups here. I live in an apartment with an electric stove so my capabilities are kind of limited. I'd love go do all-grain full-boil but I just don't have a place to do it.

My first three brews started out as "kit and kilo" and after more research decided to add specialty grains and more hops to them. They've only been fermenting less than a week. Can't wait to see how they turn out but I have to admit my expectations are kinda low at this point. I'm ready to upgrade and I know I can do better but I'm not sure what all that entails. I guess the first place to look is a new kettle but I'm not sure how big I can go. The one I'm using now only holds 2.5 gallons.

Welcome and happy brewing

As far as kettle I would get bigger than you think you need

Would recommend a kettle you can do full boils in for intended batch size with room to prevent boil overs

Lol I am not the person to ask, I am a one man wolf pack! At one time I thought about joining a local club but it's not my thing.
