Denny - I just noticed you are from Kelowna. You must be a TREE drinker, eh? Lucky guy -- they make some AWESOME brews! My favourite Canadian micro, even before Unibroue!

I actually worked for tree for a few months. To much damn cleaning. Anyways.. I think their brews have gone downhill as of late. Their porter is still good though. ANd Hophead is popular amongst, well, the hopheads.

Some of their brews lately have a grainy taste to them, as if the sparge was to hot or the mash to alkaline. Very odd. I should phone up Stephan Bruhl and give him a verbal lashing. :)

Also their heffe no longer tastes like a heffe. Tastes like an american wheat beer. They must have changed the yeast. Oh why oh why?

Currently my to favorite Micros are Cannery brewing (Penticton) and Phillips out of Victoria.

FestofALe is next weekend on my birthday in Penticton. Can't wait!

I have only been drinking TREE for a couple of years, and haven't noticed any quality issues. But maybe it was BETTER before I started drinking it! Yum.

I like their hefe -- it is definitely more of an American hefe than a German brew, but I really like it. And you are right -- their porter is awesome. Had it on tap last summer, and boy was it tasty. Cannery is really good, too. I love their blackberry porter and their brown ale. Another great one is Mt. Begbie Brewery out of Revelstoke. They have a great kolsch right now.

Haven't had Phillips, but I will keep my eyes open for it. Thanks for the tip!

Phillips is AWESOME!

I was out at the brewery this spring and all of their brews rock! They're trying to get their stuff out to Alberta so keep your eyes open, and post if you see it.

Cochrane! Those bastards!!! :D

Calgary here. What kind of brewing are you into?

That is "beer drinkin bastards" to you buddy!! LOL!!

I brewed one kit, the pour it out of the bag and add yeast type kit. Thats it, I am done with that! and moving on to all grain. A buddy of mine in Grande Prairie has been brewing for quite a number of years. He makes some awesome award winning brew.
brewman told me of this site, so I am putting some equipment together to make 5 gal batches, or smaller.

I am starting with two batches: an Amercian IPA, and a British IPA.

I visited Edmonton in January once... I asked the girl at the Rent A Car why I had to plug my car in and she laughed at me..
