Has anyone fermented in LDPE?

You can get a glass carboy or Better Bottle much. much cheaper. Less than half, maybe 1/3 the cost.


EDIT: Sorry, I guess I should answer your question directly.

I don't think it would be an issue, however, I didn't see anything in the specification to indicate an FDA rating.
 
I have two of these, around 15 gallons, one PP and one LDPE. I've used both as primaries, work really well. I don't bother with air-locks, just crack the lid a touch. After a week or when fermentation has finished I snug up the cap and leave for another week.
I understood LDPE to be foodsafe, but not as good for oxygen permeability-wise so therefore best to only use as a primary. Just my opinion though......
