I will be brewing a Great Devide Yeti Imperial Stout soon. As an experiment, I was going to make my first attempt at harvesting yeast from a bottle. I had a bottle of the Yeti I am cloning however there was no yeast in the bottom so I decided to try a bottle of Left Hand's Wake Up Dead Barrel Aged Imperial Stout that I have had in the fridge for a couple years.
I was able to successfully harvest the yeast and am stepping it up to two liters as we speak. After just 6 hours I have a lot of activity in the starter. So my questions are;
1. Should I use this in my clone?
2. Does anybody know if it is the original strain?
3. Does anyone know if the original strain is something other ordinary?
