So my first two batches where I used yeast that I harvested, washed and then made a starter with have been very vigorous and the krausen is much larger than ever before. In the past I've used air locks and haven't had a problem well these ones I need a blow off tube because the krausen is so large it's over flowing the carboy. First was a honey IIPA at 62f. And second is a altbeir fermenting at 58f

Good question. I just made a beer with some yeast I washed, and I thought it seemed a bit more aggressive too. The krausen was definitely one of the bigger ones I've seen. I use a big bucket though, so no need for a blow off tube. Nice pics!

wort bomb; lol. I will have to keep an eye on that. I just rigged it up with a tube I had laying around So maybe tomorrow I will go get a large tube that will fit the carboy opening. Are there larger than 6 G carboys?
