Hello all you brewing experts. Just thought I would chime in here. Lurking for a couple weeks.
Right now I have a dunkelweizen in the bottles and a russian imperial stout in the primary (Both Brewer's Best kits). I am a yooge noob to the world of brewing as this is my fourth batch overall. Happy to say the first two came out great!!
So...
The dunkel I bottled after only one week in the primary. I plan to leave the Russian stout for 2-3 weeks in the primary and then bottle. I do have a glass carboy for a secondary but after reading here I think it might be a waste. I don't need clear beer, especially with those dark brews.
I have had issues with getting an accurate reading with my hydrometer, probably because I was using the plastic tube it came with when I bought it(noob move I know). I will try getting a stand from my Homebrew supply store this week and won't put the russian in bottles until I get a FG that supports it.
So anyway....Any of you pros got tips for a newbie? I plan to lurk mostly and post here and there when I feel I have something relevant to add!! Happy Brewing!
