I'd like to plant my hops next to my house. I'm thinking about attaching a rope or something to my gutter and simply staking the other end into the ground. Any recommendations on what size/type of rope/wire I need to use and how to attach to my gutters. I know hops can get pretty heavy and I don't want them to rip my gutters off.

I just planted my hops today and am planning on growing up the side of my house as well. It is two story and I plan to use screwed eyelets attached to the fascia with some coarse twine running down to stakes in the ground. The fascia is the board that the gutter attaches to. I think this will be more sturdy than the gutter itself and should be plenty sufficient
