It may be possible to get batches down to under $5 if you use washed yeast.

I have tried and failed twice to wash my yeast. I will give it another go this winter when I get a decent yeast. I won't be washing and saving the cake from this US-05 probably.

Are you people using sticks and leaves for fire? I use $3 in propane for each batch!

I'm referring to ingredients only. But yeah, I use a lot of propane also.

Electric, at $0.15 per kwh it's a about the same..burning 2- 5.5kw's..

Love my natural gas quick disconnect. No propane runs and the cost per BTU is less. Actually its pretty much impossible to tell on the nicor bill.

My electric is .05 kwh. I figured a full brew day is well under $1.00 closer to .25

I am starting to think I should have bought more grains. I have already gone through 26# in the past 2 weekends brewing 2 batches of IPA. I better slow down so I don't have to buy supplementary grains before the next group buy!

I usually tell people that no matter how much they think they need add another sack just to be safe. you can never have too much grain.
