Hi! My name is Travis and I'm currently at Osan AB in South Korea. I'm a 23 year old beer fan. (although some of my coworkers might call me a snob... Just because I nearly broke down crying when I saw the beer selection here in the shopette.)

I'm thinking about getting into home brewing at my next base, and maybe here depending on both the practicality of it and what my First Sergeant says about brewing beer in my dorm room.

Aside from enjoying beer I like a good cigar, running, shooting, and just being pretty awesome in general. Seems like a pretty awesome forum to join.

Welcome to HBT! I know of a couple homebrew websites in Korea, like http://www.beerschool.co.kr/ though you'll probably need someone who can read Hangul to help you with that.

I feel you on the selection at the shopette. I was in the Azores and all they had was flat domestic and local lager. Homebrewing is a great hobby so good luck.

Welcome! I spent a year in ROK teaching English back in the day...not much of a beer scene back then either! Where are you headed next?

Right now I'm scheduled to head to Alaska in November but I'm toying around with the idea of extending my time here one year depending on how some work stuff goes.

I'm kinda toying around with the idea of getting a Mr. Beer kit (sacrilege to "true" home brewers I know) for my dorm room, but I can't really think of any way to get good beer legally here any other way.
