Just took an initial gravity reading on my 1.065 dubbel and it's at 1.015. There appears to be some fermentation activity taking place, but my concern is that I noticed some grain hulls that either came from the LME or specialty grains. Will my siphon filter those out when the time comes to transfer to the bottling bucket?

Those have to be from the specialty grains, LME wouldn't have any hulls in it.

It will be fine, if you're using a siphon with a cap on the end it should filter them out. If you're really concerned you can always sanitize a muslin bag and put it over the end of your siphon to make sure. Personally I wouldn't bother, if they happen to make it out of the fermenter you can pull them out prior to bottling/kegging.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think they would come from LME, either, but I did see some floating around in the growler after I bagged it. It was Briess Munich.
