It took 82 batches but finally my original hydrometer hit the floor nad shattered into a million pieces . Maybe there should be ab anti glass hydrometer thread warning people of the dangers of glass and how we should use plastic hydrometers.

Almost lost my originaly hydrometer a couple months back after having it for over 5 years. Picked up the tube it's held in and the bottom fell out and it fell to the concrete floor. It SOMEHOW survived the 5ft-ish fall and is still being used today:rockin:

Good bye to your friend..

I am 55 brews in with the same hydrometer.. I do have a back up but hope to never have to use it..

I used to brag but then I drunkenly tossed mine into the starsan bucket without thinking. I find that at the root of all my brew day disasters is me being drunk.

I've got a backup, but I haven't needed it. I've used the same one for 85 batches. I drink coffee until the batch is chilling.

I am a morning brewer also. That probably has a lot to do with not doing anything crazy. Saison scheduled for tomorow morning.

my first one lasted 2 batched.... dropped it in the sink.

second one has lasted a while, don't hve a backup though
