Yeah Syracuse! Anyone see this game? Syracuse blew a big lead and then won the game on a last second 3 pointer to win by 1. After the game, Coach Boeheim was responding to the Syracuse school paper saying Gerry McNamara was overrated, he said:

If it weren't for Gerry McNamara, this team wouldn't have won ten f***ing games this year.....
Gerry McNamara is overrated. That's the most bullsh** thing I've heard in 30 years....

Yeah Jimmy B!!!!!!

(yes, I know they are going to get killed by UConn next and may not make the tournament but it's been a long year for Syracuse basketball....)

luckiest shot ive ever seen. Im a huge Bearcat fan (went to UC) and nearly died when he made it. I figure UC is still inthe NCAA's so im not that upset but still. I figured we had it in the bag when Downey stole the inbound pass. Gotta hand it to him, he made an impossible shot, just wish it had been a second to late...

Luckiest shot you've ever seen? You must not watch alot of basketball. :D

It was good for both of us that Seton Hall lost last night. We also need Maryland and Stanford to lose early in their tournaments.

Well, I'm taking the afternoon off to watch that idiot a$$h0le Sendek drive NC State fans further into the depths of hopelessness. Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, 2 seconds on shot clock, heave brick, get beat on fast break. yay. At least there will be homebrew.

With NC and the dookies in the same state, I've never understood why NCS doesn't just give up basketball. ;)

As for you Big Least guys...talk about a weak sister conference. Is there even one team in that league that plays any hoops? Seton Hall maybe? You guys will be lucky to get even one team in the big dance, and whoever it is it's a sure one and done. :p :D

i was still in disbelief when i was writing that. i watch plenty of basketball, only college though as the NBA is worthless.

Big Least? OMG.....Jealousy is an ugly thing.....

I agree that the only basketball worth my time in college. I'll watch half a NBA game 2 or 3 times a year but I still root for my Nets.

If Syracuse beats Georgetown tonight, I will be doing this --------> :ban:

We had more NC's (that's national championships for you TX guys...;)) until the last few years! Everett Case @ NC State started the ACC, but ever since Jimmy V got canned by the local newspaper we've been in a death spiral with no sign of abatement :( I'd take Rick Barnes back to the ACC!

Hey El P the Beast gave the ACC our weak sisters to get rid of them. Picked up better teams and will romp in the tourney. The lucky shot by SU was the one to get to UConn, he traveled bad. The UConn shot to tie was bad D, they let him walk down the court with no pressure what so ever. Since my boys the St Johns Redmen(sorry hate the Redstorm, just not PC I guess) I'll have to root for number 2, the Tarheels.

Yea, Gerry walked half a mile before he threw up that prayer. o well, thats refs saying they dont wanna be the ones who decide the game, though by not calling the game correctly they are doing just that...

anyhow, call the Big East what you will, we may very well get 2 number one seeds and 8 teams in. wouldnt be surprised to see a couple in the final four either. prob UConn and Cincinnati (here's hoping...)

You get 2 steps, it wasn't a travel!!!!! (says the unbiased Syracuse grad)

Well, well, well.... what do we have here? #9 seed in the conference championship game. 'Nova looks too fast and Pitt looks too big for Syracuse but then again, I've been surprised this whole week.

Hell if it was only two steps I'd give it to you:D That was a stoll down the lane. I think Nova is going to be the one to beat.

I love this time of year! I took next Friday off so I could watch the games all night Thursday and all day Friday. Plus, it happens to be St. Paddy's Dehy!

Have to put a plug in for my alma mater conference, the hip conference: Missouri Valley. Watch for Northern Iowa to shock a lot of folks. You heard it here first!;)

Basketball Jones... I got a basketball Jones... I got a basketball Jones, oh baby, ooh-wah-ooohh...:fro:

I do to...tho I seldom enjoy it into the second weekend. :( I heard talk on the radio yesterday about the MVC getting 5 teams in...I think they may be stronger than those two east coast weenie conferences this year.

I'm hardly a Big East fan, and based on what I've seen in the second half of the season I wouldn't call BC weak, but there's no doubt about it that this is an extremely lame (and abnormal ;)) year for the ACC. The way Duke is playing we'll be lucky to put a team in the Sweet 16.

I'm changing my pick. U Albany just made the dance for the first time ever. Just up from division III not that long ago. Probably a 16 seed so catch them quick:rockin:

Also 15 mins into my boil. Doing an English Ale, my second take on the Goblin. Beutiful up here in the northeast today.

Syracuse is peaking at hte right time for a berth, but at the wrong time to make a run in the tournament. I gotta hand it to 'em, they have the best chance at winning the Big East now. Pitt is good and all, but SU is on a roll. I just doubt they can keep this up. I'll eat my words if they make a run, but they arent as good of a team as they are playing as right now.

On a different topic, I hope Gonzaga gets a 1 seed, then loses to U. Albany or one of the other 16 seeds. Can we say "overrated"

C'mon. Gonzaga plays in that highly contested WCC conference. I think my high school was on Gonzaga's schedule this year.

Gerry McNamara - the mayor of Scranton, PA and now MVP of the Big East Tournament.
:ban: I wish this thing was a dancing orange....

What the??? This is the worst bracket I think I've ever seen. Way to many mid majors and non- power conference schools. Air Force? Are you kidding me? I'd put the Bearcats up against AFA 100 times, I'll bet the Bearcats win all of 'em, yet no NCAA birth. Makes sense though after I found out that 7 of the 10 people on the committee we're from small time schools. How can you have the National Champion if you don't have the best 32 at-large temas playing for it? Plenty of other snubs too, just fuming about the "Cats right now

Yeah, I agree with you on Cincinatti. There are way too many mid-majors in this tournament.
I'm not exactly thrilled with the draw they gave Syracuse. Big East champ gets to play Texas A&M in the first round, then probably LSU, then probably Duke. Gee thanks alot!

A week ago you were on the bubble...quit your belly aching. ;)

I kind of feel for Cincy...but you guys knew going in that it would be a struggle to be in the top half of the BE. You could have stayed in CUSA and been a tournament lock every year, but you went for the dough. Really you should be PO'd at the orange weenies (and yourselfs)...they're the ones that stold your berth.

If you want to complain, the listless NCS Wolfpack got destroyed by the last place team in the conference, Wake Forest, twice in a week. In the last 2-2.5 weeks they've gone from a 3 seed to a 10 seed, and should they survive Cal in the first round (doubtful), they'll get nuked by Texas in the second round.

But the upside is that Sendek may show himself the door, so there's always a bright side.

orange weenies?

Anyway.... Final Four picks?

I have Duke, UCONN, BC, and UCLA with Duke beating UCONN in the finals. No real daring predictions there but I always seem to get it wrong so why not make the obvious picks?

Oh, and I have Syracuse losing to LSU in the 2nd round.

I'm a newly ordained Big East fan, since I've followed Marquette for close to 30 years now. Everyone said how they were going to get their A**es handed to them in the Big East this year, and they wound up 4th seed in the tourney (even though they were one and done- again). anyway, on to the Dance!

Unless I change my mind b/w now and tomorrow, my Final Four are:
Texas, Memphis, Connecticut and Villanova, with Connecticut beating Memphis in the big one.
