Hi, my name is Jacob and it seems I am the greenest of a long line of Oregon homebrewers. I am completely intimidated both by the wealth of knowledge displayed here on HBT, and also by the fact that Oregon has some incredible beers. I hope I can make something I'd be happy drinking despite the commercial options.

Anyways…

Don't worry about the all of the craft brewers. It is easy to make a good beer and not too difficult to make a great one.

Hey there,

If you are not too far from Eugene, you should come to Teach a Friend to Brew day. Our club, the Cascade Brewers Society, is having an event. There will be about 4 of us brewing and teaching.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you the specifics.

Cheers,
Tom

That sounds like a great workshop. I am in Portland, but would definitely be interested in something like that in the future.

Any other Oregon brewers out there that could recommend some hands on learning opportunities in the Portland area?

For the record, I have been a part of many message boards in the past, but this one has by far offered the warmest welcome. I really appreciate the sense of community that seems to permeate this site.

Sorry to get all emo, it's just nice to converse with grown ups who are more interested in sharing information than making their peers feel inadequate.

Thanks!

Don't be intimidated by the brewing knowledge, this is a great place to learn, filled with lots of helpful people.

That being said, Go Ducks, sucka!

Welcome to the board.
There are quite a few folks in the PDX area that you could hook up with to talk beer with. A couple of clubs to fiddle around with if you so feel.

...don't care about the Beavs or the Ducks..:mug:
